Online "Learn Japanese" Resources

Postby reil0080 » Wed Mar 09, 2005 7:26 pm

If I've forgotten something send a PM to: reil0080
If a link no longer works send a PM to: reil0080

Please only the best of the best - If there are five things already in a category and your link sucks by comparison... don't bother
When in doubt, send it anyways.

Here's another Japanese grammar and vocabulary site that my sensei introduced us to.

http://www.mlcjapanese.co.jp/

While they offer actual classes if you are in the Tokyo area(Meguro), they offer a large amount of pdf's for self-training for free download on their site.

Here's a free English/Japanese word processor/dictionary/Kanji converter that my professor reccommended to our class. (to clarify, it's made with an English interface)

http://www.physics.ucla.edu/~grosenth/jwpce.html

I find it very useful for all those functions, though with the many overlapping sounds of different words, it can require some thumbing through results to find the exact thing you wanted.

There are no Kanji reference sites here =(. So here's one I'm using right now, but god knows how useful it is since I've only recently begun.

http://www.kanjisite.com -> click start and go JLPT, and there are 4 levels of a study! Only includes the stuff necessary for the proficiency tests, as I've yet to find a site that includes a definition, pronunciations, and compounds of all the 2135 basic Kanji... (most of them only include a cursory definition, which I don't like)

Still, not a bad place to start and familiarize yourself.

things it lack: Stroke Order, radicals, blah blah blah. Obscure things.
